Service Management?
Australian cafés don't have the best reputation in my eyes. The service is lousy and the food is pretty dispicable. The waiters don't seem to work as a team and they are definately not service minded! Skills such as service recovery and splitting a bill aren't on the agenda and the owners of these cafés don't seem to realise the incompetance of the people they're hiring. These facts would be easy to see over if the food was only decent.
Another thing that's extremely annoying is that waiters along the beachside restaurants stand and try to lure you in for a meal. This doesn't exactly make you more attracted to visit the restaurant but makes you realise how desperate the places are for customers. Surprisingly enough these waitors don't seem to notice that I pass by every day and live in the neighbourhood. This doesn't exactly improve their reputation. Hopefully this will change towards summer when Bondi will be invaded by hundreds of beach visitors.
My recommendations in Bondi are at least Speedos and Le Paris as these places have friendly staff and great food. They manage to break the stereotypical trends that the rest of Sydney cafés seem to go by.
